U-Visas for Crime Victims Attorney in Macon
Securing Special Visas For Victims Of Crime in Bibb County
The U.S. government makes allowance for foreign nationals who have been the victims of certain types of crimes to come to the United States or stay in the United States. Known as the ‘U’ visa, this special status makes those crime victims eligible for a green card to live and work in the U.S. without fear of being deported back into a dangerous situation.
Deadwyler-Heuman Law Firm, LLC, has helped both documented and undocumented people obtain U visas and permanent resident status. Our Macon lawyers assist immigrants from any country who are living in or relocating to Central Georgia.
Reach out today at (478) 241-5247 to discuss your eligibility with our knowledgeable and compassionate immigration lawyers.
U Visas For Crime Victims
The U nonimmigrant visa was established by the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000. It provides sanctuary to noncitizens who:
- Were victims of certain crimes or witnessed crimes that occurred within the United States
- Assisted U.S. law enforcement in bringing the perpetrators to justice
The act covers a long list of crimes such as sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, involuntary servitude, peonage, domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, incest, torture, female genital mutilation, murder, felonious assault, blackmail and witness tampering.
The U visa also covers spouses, children, parents and unmarried siblings of eligible crime victims.
